Hair Testing

Lab report furnished by Quest Diagnostics, included Medical Review Signature sheet and will hold up in court. This is not a self-administered test that has no validity in court.

Hair testing for drugs will provide up to a three month (90 day) history of past drug use. This is primarily used in divorce and/or child custody situations however; it is also an excellent tool for drug detection in new employees (Pre-Employment testing). This hair test will also hold up in court since it is administered by a trained and certified third party. It is necessary for the donor to provide a photo I.D. to the collector and there is virtually no possibility of adulterating (polluting) the results.

Hair testing will detect the following drugs and drug metabolites:

Amphetamines
    Amphetamine
    Methamphetamine
    MDA (Methylenediocy-Amhpetamine)
    MDMA (Methylenedioxy-Methamphetamine)
Cocaine/Metabolites
    Benzoylecgonine
    Cocaine
    Cocaethylene
Marijuana Metabolite
    THC-COOH
Opiates
    Morphine
    Codeine
    Heroine (6-MAM)
PCP (Phencyclidine)

• The donor goes to the Quest Diagnostics Third Party Collection Center to provide a hair sample
• The specimen is overnighted to the Quest Diagnostics lab
• It will arrive at the lab on the next day (except on the weekend)
• We report negative results within 24 hours of specimen receipt at the laboratory and positive results within 48 to 72 hours.
• If the lab finds positive results, they will contact the donor to see if he/she has a prescription covering the drug(s) they found. If a prescription exists, the report will be negative for those drugs.
• Positive results are confirmed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (GC/MS/MS).

• All results (positive and negative) are reviewed by a Medical Review Officer
